A long-time mainstay in the Alaskan music scene, saxophone and electronic artist (or as he calls it Zelectrick), Rick Zelinsky uses saxophones, clarinets, flutes, nature sounds, and electronics to take you on a sonic journey through Strange Mountains. When school is in session Zelinsky is a band teacher in the Anchorage School District and teaches saxophone at the University of Alaska: Anchorage. He is also known for his work with many different musical configurations and collaborations, including the many different manifestations of his own Rick Zelinsky Group. Currently, Zelinsky is putting the finishing touches on his summer teaching program, Rick Zelinsky's Alaska Summer Band, which, in its 20th year, will be happening in a virtual format for the first time. SJF is glad to welcome Rick back to the festival for what feels like his 30th time, an impossibility without the use of time-travel. But with Rick, you never know...
