While some have taken these COVID-19 hunker-down and stay-at-home orders as a time to catch up on sleep and relax a bit, others have been busy. Michael Dickerson is one of the busy ones. Besides being the co-Director for Spenard Jazz Fest and teaching private music lessons, he has also been spending the past weeks putting together his upcoming album, aptly titled, In Place, which is due to release on May 21st, as a part of SJF's online festival programming. That night, he will lead us through the album, giving SJF patrons a fascinating in-depth view into his thought and production processes. This new album is sure to become a staple in many an Alaskan COVID-19 playlist, in the weeks to come. We are proud (and grateful) to have Michael not just on our virtual stage, but as part of our SJF Team. For more about Michael, check out his website (link below). It really is quite the read. He may look like any other Spenardian, but we're pretty sure he's not-so-secretly, a genius.
