A staple in the Alaskan Jazz scene, SJF is glad to welcome John Damberg back, this time on the virtual stage. Like so many in our lineup this year, when Damberg isn't playing music, he's teaching music (percussion) at UAA. Damberg is also the past President and Vice-President of the Percussive Arts Society Alaska Chapter. While he has played in many different ensembles over the decades, SJF is proud to present John Damberg's Latin Jazz Quintet. JDLJQ also features another of this year's artists, Mark Manners (we told you he'd be everywhere!). While JDLJQ is based right here in Alaska, expect to be transported to somewhere warm and tropical, as many of their original compositions have their roots in Brazil, Trinidad, and Cuba. The perfect music as we look toward warmer days.
